Empress has been manufacturing many devices and equipment for the musical applications, giving the musicians added control and perfection over the controls and all the preferences they might have. With all that, you get to enjoy bass boost and extended power.

You can easily control multiple output controls on the Empress ParaEQ for certainty, which is the best thing for you to enjoy. Empress ParaEQ has been discontinued, and it is not being produced anymore. That is something that you will be getting the best perfection on the guitar or any other equipment that you might be playing with it.

The Empress ParaEq was pretty great and allowed you to enjoy the best perfection of control and preferences that you might want to have on your output. Yet if you are looking for it, or want to know the reasons for those that it was discontinued, here are a few reasons that you will get to know about:

Empress ParaEq Discontinued:

Design

While the design overall is pretty rigid on the Empress ParaEq and is pretty durable, it is not something that guitarists or artists might prefer in the current times. With that, you need to understand that innovation is necessary for survival with time. That is why you will need to be particularly careful about that, and if you are looking to buy the Empress ParaEq at the current time, that would not be advisable.

While the metal body on the controller and durable knobs make it the right choice for you to enjoy, it has a bright blue color and looks like a piece of tech from the 90s. In contrast, designing a studio for recordings or even looking for the options you might need to make it work for the on-stage performances. That is one of the major reasons for the Empress ParaEq to be discontinued.

Technology

There are no second thoughts that Empress ParaEq was way ahead of its time, and it has certain utility in the modern world as well. But the technology is pretty old, and the overall design factor and the working of this controller are analog. That has a certain toll on the accuracy, and not only that, but you will also need some display or digital screen to see the preferences.

The technology being out-of-date is something that you will need to be particularly careful about to be ahead of the competition. That could have caused the major drop in the popularity of the ParaEq from the empress. Therefore, it is not being produced anymore.

Power Options

The power options are also pretty great, and you get up to 30dB of bass boost on the equalizer, which is pretty clean and powerful for most applications. Yet, there is certainly something else that you will need to know and be particularly careful about, and the competition is way ahead.

That is why you get more power options on some of the latest equalizers; that is a plus. However, that is something that you will need to be careful about. So, the lesser power compared to the competition was a negative point for the empress ParaEq equalizer and contributed to its discontinuation.

Pricing

Pricing is also another factor that you cannot ignore while choosing the equipment for your studio or even the on-stage performance, and not only that, but you will also need to be particularly careful about budgeting out since you will be buying not only the equalizer but also the guitar, amps, speakers and more to get the perfect experience out of the performance.

While the pricing was pretty great when the ParaEq was released initially, it is not market competitive compared to the products being offered today. In addition, the production costs are not something to be justified for the older technology that you get on the Empress ParaEq. That is why it has been discontinued and is not being manufactured anymore. Yet, it is a great piece of tech if you want to enjoy the right control over musical preferences.

  1. This Empress pedal is wonderful. I agree with the earlier comments. Since when is older gear a bad thing? That’s never a determination for audio. I have a Sansui integrated amp from the 80s, and these are classics. And Empress did put out a newer version of this EQ, and the compressor. Still available for sale at all the guitar stores.

  2. I love this pedal. I don’t see anyone tossing their 57 fender tweed amps or 73 Jazz basses for being old tech. I would have preferred a knob for setting the with of the filter vs a notch switch but that would just be one more parameter to fine tune. Price, well it’s fair. The closest replacement is from Radial labs but that had a few changes for better or worse. Empress quality is always top notch. I would not have wanted to pay another $100 to get a digital display since that would have made the product out of my price point. I felt the critique was really off.

  3. As with so many things old tech is not bad tech. The Para EQ pedal is by far the best EQ pedal out there which is why I use one. Have found no equal. Who cares if it’s from the 90’s? The high quality of this pedal is what matters most. Before I purchased mine all I found were stellar reviews of the Empress Para EQ. I can say from ownership it is well deserved.
