Pentatonix covers Joy to The World

Pentatonix just gave Joy To the World a contemporary spin (vocal percussions, anyone?) while retaining the integrity of the famous Christmas Classic.

Hailing from Texas, Pentatonix is the five-member a cappella group who wowed the Internet when they sang their order at Starbucks and mesmerized the crowds at Cracker Barrel with an impromptu performance.

While they are mostly known for singing covers and medleys, Pentatonix transitioned to original music in 2015 with the eponymous album which debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200. Critics praised this creative endeavor, crediting Pentatonix for pushing the a Cappella style more in the spotlight. “That the only instruments they’ve used to do it are their voices makes their achievement all the more impressive,” wrote Matt Collar of AllMusic. Kevin Olusola’s beatboxing and vocal percussion are quite realistic, aren’t they?
