💡 Builder Tip 1: Always cut your bar slightly longer than calculated, then shorten gradually while checking pitch with a tuner. Removing material raises pitch; you cannot add material back. Leave 2–3 mm extra when roughing out.
💡 Builder Tip 2: The arch undercut on the underside of a bar (parabolic arch) effectively lowers the pitch without shortening the bar. Deeper arches lower pitch more. This is the primary fine-tuning method for marimba bars after initial cutting.

But if it is way too high the bar would be so thin in the center thatit could easily split.
