CroisiEurope, a cruise operator running trips on Europe’s rivers, has announced a new week-long holiday aimed at classical music fans.

The inaugural trip will begin in Seville in June, reaching Lisbon six days later. During the trip, guests will be able to enjoy classical music performances on board the ship, along with lectures and discussions.

A private concert will take place in Seville with internationally renowned musicians. There will also be an opportunity to hear Sephardic music performed in Seville’s former Jewish quarter.

The cruise seems to be trying to take advantage of a growing market for holidays and weekend trips based around classical music events. A wide selection is available over the coming summer, including a cruise along the Danube, offering the chance to see several European capitals while attending performances on board the ship. Another travel operator is organising a package to Leipzig, where Wagner’s Ring Cycle will be presented for the first time in many years, and there’s also opera trips to Italian cities. Paris’s new concert hall has drawn a lot of praise since it opened in 2015, and there’s the chance to take it in as part of a holiday on offer covering all of the city’s premier musical venues.
