💡 Tension & Playability: Most bass players prefer a total set tension between 150–200 lbs for a standard 4-string. Higher tension gives more punch and sustain; lower tension is easier to play but may require truss rod adjustment. When switching gauge sets, always re-set your intonation.
💡 Scale Length Matters: The same gauge string at 34" will have approximately 12% more tension than at 32", and about 6% less tension than at 35".
