Pitch Memory Game is a game where you practice listening to pitch and remembering that pitch as time goes on. To play, click button with your mouse. Alternatively, if you want to get a bit quicker at this, you can uses your computer keyboard instead.
In the Memory chamber panel on the right, set parameters for yourself. Select pitch difference level. Wide offers an interval between two and five semitones. Close reduces that to one or two semitone. Fine will test you with microtonal adjustments of plus/minus twenty-five to fifty cents.
How to Play the Pitch Memory Game
Next, adjust silent corridor slider to determine how much time pass between each tone. The range is from one to eight seconds. Finally, set the level of tuning fork using volume slider. This way, it can hears comfortabley at whatever volume suits you.
Press the R key or click on the button when you’re ready and a reference tone sound for a brief period. You’ll have to remember this reference pitch while the delayed silence counts down. This is indicated by hourglass in middle of interface.
At the end of the delay, another comparison tone sound. Your task now is to judge if this new tone is higher, the same or lower than the reference. To answer, click one of the three buttons under the path (or use keyboard’s L, S, H keys: lower, same, higher). Instant feedback show whether you’re right or wrong. The panel’s bottom displays both your memory run length and your current score. Correct responses adds to your streak.
Press the C key to replay just the comparison or click Repeat only the comparison. The buttons allow you to replay only the second tone. Selecting Cut all ringing tones will instantly stop any sounds that is currently playing. Using Erase this memory set will clear present round and reset your score.
To make it more difficult, try turning on corridor decoy. That introduces a short off-topic pitch in the quiet gap between them. Your goal here is to ignore this diversion and maintain the pitch you were trying to remember. Train yourself to tune that sort of thing out while keeping the pitch memorized.
To make the interface take up your entire display click on Fullscreen. That removes some of the visual clutter and increases your available space. If you’re ever unsure about how controls map to your keyboard, just toggle How to play panel to refresh your memory.
Experiment until you feel confident about your accuracy, but try to make intervals wider and give yourself more pause time initially. As you begin to remember better, gradualy reduce the interval difference and increase the silence between each note. Practice regularly, and this should of allow you to nail the pitch down more firmly within your mind. Begin placing reference points today, and see how long you can hold a pitch in memory.
