12-year-old pianist presents mash-up of rock classics

Whoever said you can’t rock out on the piano!

12-year-old pianist Owen York recently released a four-minute mash-up incorporating Queen and David Bowie’s 1981 hit “Under Pressure,” Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” and Umphrey’s “Attachments.”

Owen York’s piece is entitled “Killing in the Name of Attachments Under Pressure.”

The 12-year-old, who is the youngest member of the Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble in New York, has shown off his mash-up skills before, including his interpretations of Radiohead tracks earlier this year and his debut mash-up that combined Nirvana, and Aerosmith. He has also appeared at Maddison Square Garden to play Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust.
